Thursday, November 20, 12:30-1:00 pm at Old Town Hall
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Copeland String Quartet showcases the rich voices of American composers. The program includes Charles Ives’ String Quartet No. 1, woven from hymns and revival songs he remembered from his Connecticut childhood, where the Salvation Army often filled the streets with music. Joining Ives’ nostalgic and inventive sound world are Erich Korngold’s lyrical String Quartet No. 3—a glowing blend of Hollywood and European tradition—and the fresh, contemporary colors of Ljova’s String Quartet.
