Shiraz Ensemble is a contemporary music group that unites Iranian musicians who are performing traditional instruments in the United States.
Shiraz Ensemble plans to dedicate this season’s performances to Iranian traditional music. Shiraz Ensemble will be performing pieces in Dastgah Nava and Homayoun, two of the seven Dastgahs (modes) of Iranian classical music. The program follows the traditional Iranian repertoire, featuring Pish-daramad, Chaharmezrab, Tasneef, and Reng. Market Street Music, enriching downtown Wilmington since the 1970s, offers a diverse and affordable array of concerts, featuring Thursday Noontime samplers, weekend Festival Concerts, and performances by its vocal ensembles, Mastersingers of Wilmington and Center City Chorale.
